idk man. i ask myself the same thing all the time. it always effin gets me.
when you lock up your triangle make sure that you are at a 90 degree angle from your opponent. You should be looking directly into your opponents ear. It makes you harder to stack because you are not straight on and as the opponent tries to circle you just keep choking. I have never been stacked using this technique even if your opponent stands up you hook a leg and shift to the 90 degree angle. I hope this helps.
once you have it locked under hook their leg that is closest to you. or when they start to stack try and shrimp your hips backwards and move with them. or once they stand up apply an armbar.
cant
If you’re getting stacked and cant keep the triangle on then transition to an arm bar or something else. It’s a pretty common mistake to just abandon your offensive when your opponent throws something unexpected at you. It sounds like your grappling partners have figured out an answer to your Triangle and you haven’t done anything to make them second guess that action.
You really need to quickly assess the situation and adapt your game when things don’t go quite as expected. Think of it like a game of chess, the best players plan ahead several moves anticipating their opponent’s responses and have contingencies ready for them. Do this when grappling and your game will improve drastically. It all comes down to practice and experience. Good Luck.
